3 Signals from Your Body That Your Mind is Ignoring and How to Start Listening

Your body is incredibly wise. It constantly sends you messages about your emotional and mental state. The problem is, in our busy daily lives, we’ve learned to ignore them. A headache is silenced with a pill. Tension in the shoulders is normalized. Exhaustion is pushed through with more coffee.

But what if I told you that these symptoms are messengers? They are your body’s way of asking you to pay attention. Today, I’ll share 3 of the most common signals and how you can start to listen.

Signal 1: Tension in Your Shoulders, Neck, and Jaw

  • What your body is saying: “I am carrying too much weight.” This tension is the physical manifestation of the responsibility, stress, and worries you “carry on your shoulders.” Clenching your jaw often means there are words or frustrations you’re not expressing.

  • How to start listening: Close your eyes for a minute. Take a deep breath and bring all your attention to that area. Don’t try to relax it, just feel it. Ask yourself: “What burden am I carrying that I could let go of, even just a little?” Simple awareness is the first step to release.

Signal 2: Constant Digestive Issues (Bloating, Acid Reflux)

  • What your body is saying: “I can’t ‘digest’ this situation.” The digestive system is our second brain and is extremely sensitive to emotions. Anxiety, fear, or a situation that is “hard to swallow” directly impacts your digestion.

  • How to start listening: Before eating, take three deep breaths. Eat slowly, without distractions. And when you feel that discomfort, ask yourself: “What situation or emotion in my life am I struggling to process right now?”

Signal 3: Chronic Exhaustion (Even with Enough Sleep)

  • What your body is saying: “My energy is leaking due to internal conflicts.” This is not physical tiredness; it’s mental exhaustion. It happens when one part of you wants one thing (e.g., to rest) and another part wants something else (e.g., to be productive). This internal struggle consumes an immense amount of energy.

  • How to start listening: Instead of fighting the fatigue, allow yourself to feel it. Sit for 5 minutes without doing anything. And ask yourself kindly: “What do I truly need right now? Permission to stop?”

Listening to your body is the beginning of a deep dialogue of self-awareness. These signals are just the surface. Hypnotherapy allows us to go deeper and understand the emotional root of these symptoms. It’s a process to heal the mind-body connection from within, releasing trapped emotions so your body no longer needs to “shout” to be heard.

If you feel your body is sending you signals, don’t ignore them. It’s an invitation to heal.
